Chesapeake Bay fishing report for august 2024

Fishing and crabbing has been robust for the entire month of August. Striped Bass were mainly caught live lining using spot. We also used cut bait with various successful tactics depending on fishing location. Strong bites were evident during the tide change for most of the month. We continue to catch Blue cat, channel catfish and white perch while bottom fishing. We were fortunate to limit out most days for striped bass even with large groups.

* Note-We participate in the FACTS reporting system. This allows charter boats to submit harvest reports directly to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources electronically on the day of harvest. Captains in the Maryland Department of Natural Resources' FACTS Charter Pilot Program can land two extra striped bass per day. This is one extra fish for the captain and another for a mate, if present. The additional fish come in addition to the one fish per person limit for clients.
